recycle

The front steps of a recently recycled apartment building. We went to see it during an open house. There were three apartments available, all freshly painted, new tile, etc. They were a peculiar combination of tasteful and cheesy, fine materials mixed with mass produced crap.

As if there were a war between opposing factions during the renovations, neither side could be said to have the upper hand. Perhaps there were too many chiefs; certainly, I would say that the chief with the good taste was not the one with the money.

do you alter these pictures from the S400 to get this look?

Jimbo, I process all my images using Photoshop. Usually, I apply a levels or curves adjustment, and frequently I darken the edges as I have done in this image. The amount of processing depends on how the original image looks, and what I’m trying to achieve with it.

Wow, I have often looked at your photos and wondered what camera/lens/film you use to get the effects you do. I am very suprized to hear you use photoshop for this vignetting. It looks very natural. I have gottena similar effect shooting with old Nikon lenses wide open – but with the corresponding small depth of field.

It really is an art form isn’t it? :)
